Karate (ages 7+)
Learn the traditional art of Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate. You will learn the basics of
Karate, blocking, and striking, as it is still taught in Okinawa today. Students will learn discipline, self-confidence, and how to defend themselves. The Beginner class (for ages 6-10) is for students with no previous training. The Advanced Karate class is for ages 10 and up. Class is done barefoot. New students: wear loose, comfortable clothing to class. Instructor: Master Sensei Peter Pekrul, 10th degree black belt
Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Winter Session Dates: January 6–March 19 (20 classes, no class 2/12 and 2/17)
Spring Session Dates: March 31–June 11 (20 classes, no class 4/14 and 4/16)
Time: Beginner 5:30-6:30pm;
Advanced 6:30-7:30pm
Location: Community Center Gymnasium Fee per session: $100 residents,
$110 non-residents

Pick Your Own Project (Ages 16+)
Looking to take up a useful new hobby? Have a sewing machine still in the box? Have a project you’ve started that you just can’t quite finish
or an alteration you aren’t sure you can tackle on your own? Join us for our PYO group class. An open workshop for all ages! Students must bring their own machines and materials! Location: Community Center Arts and Crafts Room

Intro to Stargazing
Discover the wonders of backyard astronomy in this explorative FREE class! Participants will learn how to navigate the solar system and beyond. We will learn about the planets, our moon, the dazzling array of constellations and stars, and the best ways to observe them all. Don’t miss out on this FREE opportunity to delve into this fascinating hobby!

Decorate your House for the Holidays Contest
It’s back and it’s bigger and brighter than ever! Our annual Holiday House Decorating Contest is looking for Rocky Hill’s brightest, sparkliest, and holiday-i-est houses in town and YOUR HOME can be a part of the holiday cheer! Of course there are prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, along with the brightest, most creative, best newcomer, best neighborhood, and most classy-looking homes, but what’s better than bragging rights?
A picture of every single house entered into the competition will be posted on Facebook to be voted on by your neighbors and friends! The top three “liked” pictures will determine our three winners! If you’d like to be part of the competition, you must register by the end of the day on December 14th! Registration can be done on our website or by calling the office at 860-258-2772. Our Department’s judges will determine the winners of the five superlative categories and will visit every home on the evening of Tuesday, December 16th. Please leave your decorations and lights on from 5:00–9:00pm that evening.
