Brazilian Dancing Martial Arts
(Ages 5–12)
Capoeira (pronounced cap-o-wed-a) is an art of self-defense that is hidden in dance and played as a game inside a circle with live music and songs. It develops strong, agile muscles, brings people together and invites individuals to express themselves. Capoeira has a rich and important history. Capoeira today retains the playful quality and is enjoyed as a beautiful “dance”. The capoeira community continues to grow, as capoeira spreads across six continents and to millions of people worldwide. It provides health benefits, enhances self-esteem, reduces stress and was created to build community. It is a barefoot class. Wear loose clothing and bring water.
