camp sunrise
A summer recreational program for those
with special needs, ages 3–21 with physical, intellectual, developmental, and/or other health impairments. The camp is run by the Glastonbury Parks and Recreation Department and serves
the towns of Cromwell, Glastonbury, Newington, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield. Camp runs Monday– Friday, June 17–August 2 (no camp on 6/19 or
7/4), 9:00am–3:00pm at Smith Middle School in Glastonbury. Fee is $159/week and $189/week
for typical siblings. Transportation is provided from the Rocky Hill Town Hall to and from camp.
If transportation is needed, there is an additional $30/week fee. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and is now open. Special registration procedures are required and registration is now online only. Applications are available at the Parks and Recreation office or online at www.glastonburyct.gov/campsunrise. Contact the Glastonbury Parks and Recreation Dept. for more information.

refine their strategies. Next Generation Chess believes that chess is for everyone! Our dedicated team of experienced coaches is committed to fostering a love for the game in each and every member. Children entering our club will discover

Skyhawks Sports Academy provides sports programs where children discover and develop athletic skills and social values, such as teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship. We offer children a positive sports experience while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
skyhawks ultimate sports camp,
ages 7–12
Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe, and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect,
and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. For this program, our patient and knowledgeable staff play a variety of fast-paced, cooperative team games focused on hand-eye coordination. Proper throwing and catching techniques are taught and practices while learning the games of Ultimate Frisbee, Ultimate Handball, Ultimate Football, and various versions of Capture the Flag. Participants should bring multiple water bottles, two snacks, lunch, sunscreen, and wear appropriate athletic attire. Each child receives an award certificate and Skyhawks t-shirt.

This program combines strategic STEM-based activities with traditional Skyhawks soccer instruction and a focus on life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship. STEM Sports soccer curriculum gives students the opportunity
to get behind the sport they love with modules on soccer ball design, throw in science, angles and goal line technology! Participants will also learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, dribbling, and defense through skill-based drills and scrimmages. Skyhawks puts the Sports in STEM! This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through exciting games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. Each child receives an award certificate and Skyhawks t-shirt.

skyhawks tennis camps for ages 6–12
Grab your tennis racquet and get ready to play! Whether you’re a beginning, an intermediate, or
an advanced player, this program will improve your game and help you get more enjoyment
from tennis. Our tennis programs focus on skill refinement as well as practice and match play
to develop consistent, well-rounded tennis players. Each player is given personal attention and taught through repetition in and enjoyable, lively atmosphere. Skyhawks Tennis breaks
down the fundamental skills of tennis through easily understood games and exercises to help improve the athlete’s overall coordination and technique. Players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys, and serves during a series of drills designed to teach skills in a fun and dynamic way. In addition to developing a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis such an exciting game to play. Due to limited court space, these programs fill quickly!
